Chapter 6: Testing & Validation

Comprehensive End-to-End Integration Testing

Chapter Overview

This chapter provides comprehensive test procedures for validating the entire multi-cloud integration across GCP Vertex AI, Azure ExpressRoute/Virtual WAN, SD-WAN Cloud OnRamp, and SaaS applications. Testing is organized into four progressive phases: component testing, integration testing, failover/chaos testing, and user acceptance testing.

Testing Timeline: 4 weeks across all 19 sites with complete coverage

What You'll Learn

  • Test strategy and infrastructure setup
  • Component-level validation procedures
  • Integration testing across cloud platforms
  • Failover and chaos engineering tests
  • Performance benchmarking and load testing
  • User acceptance test (UAT) procedures
  • Technical validation and compliance checks

Testing Scope

Infrastructure Under Test:

  • Sites: All 19 SD-WAN sites (6 hubs + 13 branches)
  • Cloud Platforms: GCP Vertex AI, Azure (3 ExpressRoute circuits, 3 Virtual WAN hubs)
  • SD-WAN: Cloud OnRamp SaaS/IaaS/SASE across entire fabric
  • Applications: Office 365, Salesforce, WxCC, Azure services

Test Tooling:

  • Network: ThousandEyes, iperf3, mtr, traceroute
  • Application: AppDynamics, Splunk, custom scripts
  • Cloud: GCP Cloud Monitoring, Azure Monitor
  • SD-WAN: vManage analytics and DPI

Chapter Contents

6.1 Test Strategy & Infrastructure

Overall test philosophy, test host deployment, tooling setup, and test environment preparation.

6.2 Component Testing

Week 1: Individual component validation including GCP connectivity, Azure circuits, SD-WAN policies, and SaaS probes.

6.3 Integration Testing

Week 2: Cross-platform integration tests validating end-to-end data flows and multi-cloud interactions.

6.4 Failover & Chaos Testing

Week 3: Resilience testing with circuit failures, link degradation, hub failures, and chaos engineering scenarios.

6.5 Performance Testing

Load testing, bandwidth validation, latency measurements, and QoS verification under stress conditions.

6.6 User Acceptance Testing

Week 4: Formal UAT procedures with business users, acceptance criteria, and sign-off procedures.

6.7 Technical Validation Procedures

Detailed technical validation checklists, compliance verification, and production readiness assessment.

Test Philosophy

Every Test Has:

  • Pass Criterion: Specific, measurable success criteria
  • Failure Action: Defined rollback and remediation steps
  • Documentation: Automated result capture and evidence collection
